U.S. Senate Clears 107 Trump Nominees in Partisan Vote

(MENAFN) The US Senate confirmed 107 of President Donald Trump’s nominees Tuesday, utilizing new procedures adopted last month aimed at accelerating confirmations previously stalled by partisan deadlock.

Senators voted strictly along party lines, 51-47, to approve a diverse group including ambassadors, agency leaders, and US attorneys. Notable confirmations included former Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker as ambassador to the Bahamas, Sergio Gor as ambassador to India, and David Fink appointed to head the Federal Railroad Administration.

This batch follows an earlier group of 48 nominees cleared three weeks ago under the same expedited rules.

The updated process was implemented after Democrats blocked a prior agreement designed to quicken confirmations before the August recess, causing hundreds of nominations to remain pending for months.
